Hi Sean
As usual, I couldn't agree more. I have been reading your ezine for years now and I enjoy the humour that differentiates you from the rest. Thanks for a good reminder on what free really is... or isn't!

I tend to agree with Martin above - that 'free' is not seen as really free. I personally know that free will mean that I'll get bombarded with countless emails, I'll be presented with OTO's and so on.

Although I do offer 'free' bonuses to get people to opt in, they didn't make much difference to my opt in rate when I put them up. (I started just by pitching the benefits).

Still - the freebies are still there, because they're not making my opt in rate worse. (Or at least I don't think so - I should test that!)

Thanks,

Martin.

I think most people are starting to translate free into worthless, or "strings attached" and is going to cost me in the long run.
Another expression loosing its power is "limited time offer".

Sean,

This is an excellent explanation of the way to offer something free. Your tips are right on target and any wise business person will put these ideas into operation before offering another free anything.

Thanks.
